Catch a whiff of bureaucracy this week as Star Trek: The Next Generation takes its first real stab at serious drama for the classic episode, “The Wounded“!
Author Jeffrey Lang joins the show this week for a look at Trek’s spin on Heart of Darkness, as Chief O’Brien must face the ghosts of his past and stop Captain Maxwell, his former captain, before Maxwell can add to the list of casualties. It’s an deep examination of complex social issues, telling yourself you’re the good guy, finding humanity in the enemy, and living through what you’ve already survived. But, we still make room to talk kelp buds vs. lamb stew, Cardassian hipsters, “Clyde Bruckman’s Final Repose”, Chief O’Brien At Work, and scary Trek monsters!
Plus, Jeff talks about his collaboration with Martok actor J.G. Hertzler, Kal makes a pretty solid case for a Hudson Hawk podcast, and we say a belated farewell to Richard Hatch!
We are the faithful harp that praises this episode!
